Condensing steam provides a large amount of heat in a small area and in many plants is readily available.
For direct steam vaporizers and trim heaters the combination of high heat content and large temperature differences lends to smaller sized and more cost effective units. Steam is also used as a heat source in the reliable steam sparged water bath vaporizer. Steam vaporizers can be used to vaporize nitrogen, oxygen, argon, CO2, LNG, ethelene, ammonia, chlorine and other cryogens and liquefied gases.
TVN Direct Steam Vaporizers use condensing steam as a heat source on the shell side of a shell and U-tube heat exchanger. The cryogen is vaporized and superheated through the stainless steel tube bundle that is fit with proprietary vortex generators. The flow of steam to the shell is modulated by a temperature controller that maintains the outlet gas temperature. Trim heaters and pressure build models are controlled by maintaining a set steam pressure. Standard units are available for up to 1.2 MSCFH.
Thermax Steam Sparged Water Bath Vaporizers offer an extremely reliable and high flow vaporizer option. A stainless steel tube bundle is submerged in a bath of hot water. The water is maintained to a set point by injecting steam though proprietary sparges into the bath. Condensate is continually drained off. The cryogen is vaporized and superheated through the tube bundle that is fit with proprietary vortex generators. The bath provides ballast for vaporization even during steam outages. A steam control valve with controller is included as part of the standard package. Standard units are available to 1.5 MSCFH.
