Water Bath Vaporizers

Water bath vaporizers are recommended where robust operation and ballast heat is desired. Models are available to heat the water bath via electricity, steam, or combustion gases.

A stainless steel vaporizing tube bundle is submerged in the water bath, ready for immediate use. The heat into the bath is controlled to maintain a steady bath temperature. A mixture of glycol can also be used if planned downtime in a freezing climate is expected.

Water Bath Vaporizers are typically used to vaporize nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide, LNG and hydrogen with solutions also available for many other liquid gases and cryogens including ammonia, propane, chlorine, ethylene and more.

Thermax Indirect Fired Water Bath (IFWB) Vaporizers

High capacity (standard models with flow rates up to 2.9 MMSCFH) and economical operation.

Typical applications include LNG satellite plants, LNG peak shaving, LNG virtual pipeline, oxygen, nitrogen, argon or carbon dioxide (CO2) gas supply installations and large scale oxygen and nitrogen plant back-up systems.

The water bath is heated and temperature controlled by hot combustion gases flowing through the Thermax Vortex-Flow™ submerged fire tube. IFWB vaporizers offer a safe and reliable cryogenic or liquefied gas source for standby or continuous operation.

Cold start to full capacity in 10 minutes or instantaneously if left in stand-by mode.

Stationary and trailer mounted mobile units available.

Thermax Electric Water Bath Vaporizers

Extremely reliable and high flow vaporizer option with standard models available from 40 to 2,000 kW.

The cryogen is vaporized and superheated through a stainless steel tube bundle that is fitted with proprietary Thermax In-Tube Vortex Generators that increase heat transfer and minimize pressure surges.

The water ballast provides a large thermal mass that reduces peak power demand and thermal stress, which extends the life of the tube bundle. Standard units have a 3 minute ballast time with options available to increase this up to 30 minutes.

Full power distribution and water bath temperature control is provided as part of the standard package.

Thermax Steam Sparged Water Bath Vaporizers

Smooth and reliable vaporization over a wide range of flows. Standard units are available to 1.5 MSCFH.

Cryogens and liquefied gases are vaporized and superheated in a Thermax Vortex-Flow™ tube bundle located in the hot water bath. The water temperature is maintained by injecting steam through custom variable flow sparges into the bath. The bath provides a large thermal mass that reduces peak steam demand and thermal stress, which extends the life of the tube bundle. Standard units have a 3 minute ballast time with options available to increase this up to 30 minutes, even during steam interruptions.

Condensate is recovered or sent to drain through an overflow connection (included in scope).
